Faith

Faith is a wonderful feeling and we do all experience it - but we all have faith in different ways.
We have faith that the sun will rise at dawn and set at dusk. We have faith that Spring is coming and that eventually Winter will return.
And we can also have faith that The Lord of all the heavens and earth will guide us and lead us through the worlds' maelstroms and finally deliver us to safety.
Why? Because He loves us - because His grace is greater than our fear -than our sin and than our shame!!
 How do we know this?
Look around - open your eyes and  look at His beautiful creation - Only a God of Love would have created such a beautiful place to live- only a God of Love would have given us so many pleasures - pleasures of sight - sound - taste and touch!!
Believe it - Our God is an awesome God who does far more than any of us could even imagine!!

Giving thanks

Being grateful - giving thanks - is a gift from God!
Just being in the state of grace to feel grateful is a gift!!
A heavenly gift that instantly brings us closer to God.
There are so many things to be grateful for - for our Faith - for our lives - for creation - - look at this beautiful photo graph taken last year near Lands Ends the beautiful sea- the cliffs - the sky - the fresh air - the birds etc etc.
It makes my heart soar!!
These are big things to thank and praise Our God for - but there are thousands of little things everyday to sing praise and thanks for- a single snowdrop - a solo bird song - a slowly descending spider on a tiny web- a letter recieved- a safe journey to work - a smile from a colleague - just hundreds & thousands of things to be grateful for.
so let us all give thanks to Our Lord - for he is SO GOOD! He fills our lives with millions of tiny pleasures- lets not overlook them - let's Thank Him for His goodness- for His Kindness & for His Love!!
 God Bless

Koala Bears

I really like Koala bears- not because they are cute - and they are - but because they always look so happy!
They seem to have such happy smiling faces - and they seem to be unphased by anything that goes on!!

They are happy to live the life they were designed for and happy to be content with their lot!!
I wish we could all be a bit more accepting of our lot like the koalas.
Most of us have such a lot to be grateful for and yet we are all too often complaining about one minor thing after another!
We look around us and compare our lives with others' and feel that we are lacking in one way of another!
We really don't need that new car - or that extra holiday or the new extension etc and we fool ourselves by telling ourselves that if we just had that pay rise or that new sofa then we'd be happy - but we never are.
The koala is happy because he has all he needs and he spends all his time doing what he was designed to do.
We are not happy because although we have more than our needs we don't spend our time doing what we were designed to do - which is to spend time with God.
We were created to have an intimate relationship with God and when we don't have that we are never happy --and a new car - new house- more money is never going to make us any happier -anymore than any of those things will make the koala happy.
We need to stop looking for material things to make us happy and spend more time being thankful and grateful to our creator.
When we are in tune and fully aligned with God then we are happy & peaceful and rich in the things that last even if we are as poor as church mice!!
 Count your blessings

Waiting.....

A great deal of our time seems to be spent waiting-- waiting for buses- trains or taxis- waiting at the school gate for the children to come out - at the swimming pool for the next lesson to start - the list is endless.
Waiting for Spring - for the days to grow longer - for the sun to be warmer -  for a birthday or a treat - for a holiday- and so it goes on.
It is almost as if we are not content with the present - not content to enjoy this moment - too busy wanting the next one and the one after that!
We feel as if this moment isn't as good as the one we are waiting for - this moment isn't to be treasured because there is a moment that's coming that is going to be even better!!

To be sure there is a moment to come that is going to be better than any other and the whole of creation is waiting expectantly for it - we don't know when it will come but it is going to come - the time when a trumpet will sound and The Lord  will come back to earth and put all things right and there will be no more weeping or sorrow!!

But until then lets spend our time embracing and enjoying every moment - being aware of every moment - being fully present in the moment and seeking to please God in every moment!!! Then when That Great Moment comes we will be Ready!!!

God Bless

Looking harder

Some days you wake with a song in your heart and your thoughts are automatically focused on God - it's like he's been there all night whilst you were sleeping!
On those days it's great you can see God everywhere - in the mist or the frost - even in the rain - in the trees and the clouds -  on the fields - your heart is full and your voice full of worship and praise - it's so easy to reach for your bible - to read your daily devotion - to drop to your knees and pray.
God is there with you - you can feel him - He's in your heart - in your mind and all around you !!

However, there are many days when you wake up empty - your head starts filling with 'to do' lists- you've got a tight schedule - unreasonable dead lines - you have to plan everything with split second timing- it's hard to roll back the thoughts of the day to connect with God --! you try! - nothing! - your mind just keeps returning to the impossible day in front of  you.
These are the days when you just have to persevere -and push back the calls of the day and focus your mind and your heart on The Lord.
A thought will pop up telling you that you have too much to do - dismiss it and keep your eyes fixed on Jesus!
You have to look harder to see Him - - but He's still there - it's you who isn't present - you who is unaware of His Presence because the day's duties are overwhelming you - -  clouding your vision.

When you focus on Jesus - everything else grows dim - your days worries will dissolve like snow as you become aware of Him.
So although we all want the days when we feel like we've been with God throughout the night - we also need those  days when we have to look harder - we need those days for growth- it all helps us to grow closer to Him.

I pray that the days of closeness with God will be more and more numerous as you grow in His wonderful unfailing Love!!

God Bless

A New Year

So here we are - Christmas is over and we meet a new year.
For many this will be a time of hope and optimism - a time for new beginnings and a fresh start.

For this I give thanks - not for mans' calender but for the HOPE and optimism that accompanies every New year!

and with this New Year I pray that many of you will  choose to walk closer to God than ever before - to allow yourselves to be encouraged, to be delighted by, to be enthralled by and to be drawn like a moth to the light into God's Loving Arms.

May God bless you and hold you close to Him for ever.
